Last night was an epic struggle between myself, and what quickly seems to be becoming my nemisis.  Yes, chapter 9 seems to be becoming quite the little nuscience for me.

After an hour long struggle, two nearly full rewrites, and what almost escalated to an armed standoff, Under the Darkened Mono’s chapter nine has been reborn cet again.

Last Night’s Brutal Editing Session

October 24, 2012 Leave a comment

Preparing chapter 9 for the manuscript last night was absolutely brutal. I feel like the chapter literally kicked my ass.

There were so many things that simply did not sound right once I let the TTS start reading it back to me.  And here I thought I had done a good job with it during FINAL edits. Boy was I wrong.

Warning! May contain spoilers!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is one of those books that you just cannot help but give high marks for its ingenuity and concept. What it lacks up for in terms of historical accuracy can be mostly overlooked, although there are times that the historical narrative of Lincoln’s life is just too stretched. This does put a certain amount of strain on the plot that anyone with a strong understanding of Lincoln’s life will find hard to ignore.

Memorial Day Weekend Edit Fest

May 22, 2012 Leave a comment

With the long weekend coming and no plans to do anything over the Memorial Day Holiday, I have decided that I will dedicate many hours to editing my manuscript for the novel, Under the Darkened Moon. I have started a polishing edit already and it amazing how many things I am still tweaking. Nothing major, mostly finding ways to say and show things in different, more succinct ways and cutting duplicated descriptions.

During my last edit, the word count ballooned to 149,873 words. I want to start cutting that down and I definately do not want to exceed 150,000 words if I can help it. Current page count at approximately 275 words per page is 544 pages.

I am not going to hack just to hack, but in 80 pages of this. Ew edit I have taken the word count down to 149,442. So, of this trend holds another 2,500 words will hit the cutting room floor which makes a target of just under 147,000 words. We’ll see how this week and holiday weekend go.
